The Harcourt Arms Open Mic session (Sundays 7.30-10.30) has become a fixture on Oxford's music scene. Nigel set it up in June 2011 and has been running it ever since, now with the support of Chris Bayne.
Fabulous variety, great quality, and a regular meeting place for fans of live music, performers and listeners alike. We usually get well over 30 songs a night. Feel free to come down, preferably with an instrument, we'd love to hear you play!

Online Harcourt Arms Open Mic
Whilst the Harcourt Arms is in lockdown we've been getting together online to keep the flame alive. The URL is subject to change so the best thing to do is watch the Harcourt Facebook page for posts.
The Online version is just as varied as the normal one. Compared to the live analogue pub, what we might lose in sound quality we gain in geographical reach with contributors and audience members coming from as far afield as Colombia, Japan and California. And Summertown.
You don't need any special equipment to take part so come and join us every Sunday night from 8-11pm. See you soon!

How we do things around here...Please:
It’s 2 songs-ish each per act, depending on the following:
Complex mathematical formulae are not used in this decision-making process! If you don't get to play on the night your name goes on the list as fixed for the next time you come in. You might get recorded by audio or video, depending on batteries, connections, space on the minidisc etc etc, so please leave an email address for us so we can send MP3s and links etc. If you do a cover, please let me know the song title and artist (or composer if you know). It's for our friends the PRS (details on request). HARCOURT ARMS 1 - 2 Cranham Street Jericho, Oxford OX2 6DG |
Every Sunday at 9 to 11pm
Sunday 24th May: Many thanks to the awesome performers at last night’s Online Harcourt Open Mic session. Such a shame we lost one or two through connectivity issues. But the sound for others was fine for a full evening’s entertainment. And what fabulous entertainment, we had dancing, music and poetry, in villas, cabins, front rooms and gardens, and pieces ranging from ancient to something put to music on the spot. Thanks go to Graham, Simon, Mercedes, Leon (long time no see), Stephen, Patti, Raymond, Libby, Sam, Mat (and Annika!), Chris, Lizzie, Nanette, Esteban, Tony and Anna. Just the three time zones covered this week: California, UK and Japan (hi Kazutomo!). Thanks as ever to Ian and the Harcourt Arms for bringing us together in the first place. What a night.
