We Will Always Have Paris by Nigel Brown, written in Madrid, 2002, where Nigel worked for a few months. This version was recorded at the Bell in Long Hanborough, Oxfordshire, 22nd June 2008.

We will always have Paris

In old Madrid there is an attic, contains a dreamer and a fool

The dreamer speaks of love requited, the fool believes it could be true

And in the pastel shades of Paris I would sing to you of love

And in the melancholy morning, 'mon amour' is not enough

'Mon amour' is not enough

And as you sit and watch the river will you see me and think again?

Or will our memories float away, like morning mist in May, on the ripples of the Seine?

In the days so full of love and the nights so full of fun

We were so hungry and so young, stepping lightly in the sun

When you see the rains of Autumn I'll be under desert skies

I will think of you in Paris and I will always wonder why

I will always wonder why

And when you sit and watch the river will you see me and think again?

Or will our memories float away, like morning mist in May, on the ripples of the Seine?

How can other arms enfold you, or others see behind your face

Only I can see in your illuminated skin when the sun shines thinly through curtains of lace

And on some warm accordion morning, you'll find the comfort and the joy

Another heart that's freely given, another foolish lovesick boy

My heart will follow you to Paris, kiss you once and say goodbye

Walk the streets we'll never share, and wipe the tears you'll never cry

Wipe the tears you'll never cry

And when you sit and watch the river will you see me and think again

Or will our memories float away, like morning mist in May, on the ripples of the Seine
